Kenneth Hill, P.E.
GSE Founder & President
Ken Hill serves as President, Co-Owner, and Principal Engineer at GSE Engineering. With more than 35 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, Ken specializes in geotechnical investigations, foundation engineering, subsurface analysis, technical design, and construction-related consulting services. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1983.
Ken leads contract management, public-sector coordination, technical analysis, and engineering design for a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects throughout Florida. His experience includes work for both public and private sector clients, including the Florida Department of Transportation and the University of Florida.
Joakim “Jay” Nordqvist, P.E.
GSE Founder & CEO
Jay Nordqvist is the CEO, Co-Owner, and Principal Engineer at GSE Engineering, with more than 30 years of experience providing geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and environmental engineering consulting services for public and private sector clients throughout Florida.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 1985. He specializes in geotechnical analysis, structural design, environmental consulting, and engineering project management for commercial, institutional, transportation, and infrastructure developments.
Jay is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Urban Land Institute, and the Florida Brownfields Association. He is also involved in local civic and community organizations, including Rotary International.

Monrad Thue, P.E.
With over 40 years of experience providing professional engineering services across Florida, Monrad specializes in structural engineering, construction supervision, and structural forensic investigations for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. He also has extensive expertise in the design and inspection of water and wastewater treatment plants, delivering reliable engineering solutions backed by decades of hands-on experience.
John Newcombe, P.E.
Mr. Newcombe is a Senior Engineer with 16+ years of experience in geotechnical, structural related engineering and construction materials testing in North and Central Florida. John earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 2009.
His experience includes monitoring subsurface site improvements, remediation including deep and shallow injection grouting and stone column site improvements on multiple projects. His structural experience includes serving a threshold agent on multiple projects, forensic structural investigations as well as monitored structural remedial measure implementation, and re-construction.
Kevin Fisher, P.E.
Mr. Fisher is a professional geotechnical engineer at GSE Engineering. Kevin has over 8 years of experience in providing geotechnical engineering consulting services to a wide variety of clients, both public and private. Kevin earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 2019.
Mr. Fisher’s engineering expertise and experience includes providing geotechnical consulting for foundation, retaining wall, pavement, and stormwater management designs.
